leaves are falling

Our little woods has turned into a golden paradise.  This is yesterday...
And the same shot (from further back and more sun) this morning ...
Leaves are actively falling, and you can see through the trees now.  When my time comes, I want to die like a falling leaf - gently and joyously dancing.
Everywhere you look, the color of the landscape is breathtaking ...
I even love seeing the leaves as they collect on my car windsheild.

View from the Window this morning

Moraine Bike Ride

We went up to Moraine State Park for a bike ride today.  It is lovely autumn day, warm and sunny.  A good bike trail around the lake, no cars and pretty Pennsylvania scenery.  Only I thought it was a 7 1/2 mile loop.  It turned out that when I got to the end of the trail, I had to turn and around and go another 7 1/2 miles!
 That's an owl on top of the boat ...

Sistah(!) on the strip!

My sister, FA, is visiting for a couple of days and we had a great time this morning down at Pittsburgh's "Strip".   It's a beautiful autumn day, delightfully sunny and warm.  We went into every store and grocery, looking at everything!  So many things.

Lots of yummy breads ...
 The old buildings ...
 Steelers stuff ...
 Teas and coffees ...
 More bread ...
 Flour and bread boards ...
 Olives ...
 Fish and lobster ...
 Everything on display ...
 Pastries ...
 The little stores ...
 of all ethnicities ...
Lovely Flowers ...
 Cookies ...
 Chocolates ...
 Italian men!
 Threads ...
 Halloween costumes ...
 Fabrics et al ...
 More Halloween stuff (this glass blown ball is painted on the inside!)
 Art that I fell in love with (I especially love the pine tree work and the corn in the upper right).
 A scarecrow (that I'm sure someone would steel from my front yard)...
 Dried flowers ...
 The dried wreath that would look great over FA's fireplace ...
 More Halloween stuff ...
 And we finally found the "Franktuary" (in an old Church basement) for lunch (downtown PGH).
 This is a Chicago imposter on the left and a New York Classic on the right.  Blue and Yellow smoothies to go with the dogs.  Good lunch place.

CSA Box #6

Nu Way Farm's greenhouses are overflowing!  They will send some lovely spinach, Vates kale and a large bunch of French Breakfast radishes;
you will get green tomatoes from Matthew's Farm;
butternut squash from Clarion River Organics;
Jonathan apples from Dawson's Orchards Farm;
russet potatoes from Weeping Willow Farm; and
sweet peppers Crighton's Farm.

 (Everything there  but the butternut squash, which is coming next week.  Apples are wonderful.)

the rains finally stopped

After about 5 days straight of rain (and cold), the sun is out.  The woods are still predominately green, but if you look around there is a lot of color change going on.
