  1. Didn't know you played the accordion! When I was a kid and dreamed of playing the piano (not possible where we lived, not to mention economically), my father encouraged me to learn the accordion. It never appealed to me, though. I guess it can be fun.

  2. I don't play, Barbara. In fact, my friend Sandra - who has played professionally since she was 5 years old - has informed me that I have the instrument upside down!

We rented the accordion for our son's wedding - actually the rehearsal dinners, which is Friday night in Staten Island (gasp!). Sandra will be playing this accordion. It was easier for me to find an accordion in Pittsburgh than S.I. So we're bringing it with us.

It is quite a romantic instrument, imo.

  3. I never thought of the accordion as romantic. Good luck at the rehearsal dinner.

  4. You've never heard my friend Sandy play the accordion, Barbara. She put real heart and soul into it!

Thanks for the luck, Sally. I'll need it. This is turning out to be a real rite of passage for me.

  5. no, it's more profound than empty nest. We've had an empty nest for several years. This has more to do with life passages and deep levels of letting go.

    1. I'm sorry, Giovanni, I do not know how old the instrument is or what it is worth. I only had it for a week. It was beautiful. Enjoy yours.
