  1. I tried to learn glassblowing when I was in grad school so I could repair the vacuum line where I did some of my research. Not a big success. It is even harder than it looks. It is all in the breath.

  2. The man who was narrating the glass blowing show that we went to said that it was easier (less resistance) than blowing up a balloon. They made it look easy. The exhibits were absolutely gorgeous. Much of it reminded me of frozen water. Fascinating to me that glass is made by heating sand to 1000 degrees, essentially melting it, and then breathing into it. Talk about a creation story.

  3. Yes, it is barely a puff that is required at times. Glass is really classified as a liquid, fascinating. It flows, but extremely slowly. You can see that in old panes of window glass that are thicker at the bottom. The structure is quite complex.
