I know that this snow must have come sometime last night. I got up a couple of times in the night and looked out, and never saw it snowing. 5-6 inches, though, this morning. This is the most snow I've seen in a very long time.
They clear the sidewalks early, here. Not as early as our first walk, but definitely by the 2nd one.
Snow is higher than Jubilee's belly.
Cars are covered. But believe it or not, the roads are already cleared and people driving along as if nothing had happened. My gosh, this would cripple Florida.
You're certainly more efficient with clearing sidewalks and streets than Montreal. Here they are usually passable but not totally clear immediately following a good snowfall. Mind you, there are lots of streets to clear here and many are narrow.
ReplyDeleteThese are the apartment guys that are cleaning everything off. There are 3 or 4 of them, full time employees, whose only job is apartment maintenance. They usually have everything plowed and salted by 7AM. Really amazing guys, who look like they like their jobs.
ReplyDeleteOOOOH! I was thinking of our blue-collar workers. You would love to see the parade of snow-clearing equipment they use to remove the snow from a street. It is fascinating. Everyone loves the sidewalk tractors, but the plows shooting the snow into trucks is cool, too. There is a line of empty trucks following to replace the one at the head of the line that is being filled. Lights flashing, guys with light sticks, often in the middle of the night... I hate to miss it when they pass by my home.
ReplyDeleteSounds fascinating, Barbara. I've been thinking that I need to get a photo of the Salt Truck as it passes on the main highway, but John says that would be like trying to get a photo of a wild animal - you never know when they're coming by, and they're gone before you can find the camera.
