more snow

View from the window about 9:30AM.  Very large snowflakes falling for the last hour or more.  The road is white.  Though the traffic is still moving, I don't think I'll venture out today.

  1. Actually, driving on a bit of snow is not so bad. Snow tires eat it up. You just have to go slowly. What scares me is what we call black ice that occurs at stop signs and overpasses. You don't see the ice and you can't control your car very well. It is important to go slowly and to keep a good distance. I suppose the locals have given you more than enough advice on driving in winter.

  2. Actually, Barbara, no one has said much at all to me about driving on the ice. It seems that it is all a given. Since I'm not working here, I've decided that if the roads are anything less than optimal, I'm not going out. Even so, I know that there are those "hidden" patches of ice that can get you.

I'm enough of a hermit that I actually look forward to the days when I have to stay in!

  3. You and me both, beth! I am so happy I no longer have to shovel my way out and face the snowy roads to get to work any more. I can hunker down with my Persian princes and feel secure. I am lucky there is a small shopping centre a block or so away, in case I need something.
