Every time I come "up" to Pgh., my friend, Paula, goes to that bakery to buy special 12 grain bread! I recognize the bakery from the reflection in the window. See you in a few weeks. Jane
I get some good 6 grain bread from the McGinnis Sisters Grocery Store. Jane, do you want to drive back to FL with Jubilee and I? We are planning on driving Oct 18.
Mostly around and in the John H. Heinz History Center. Actually the bread in the window was just a storefront, which was around the corner from the Greyhound Bus Station. It even seemed like the same building as the bus station, and had us wondering what if they made fresh bread like that for the passengers on the buses (?!). It actually sounds like an interesting idea to me for a slightly different take on soup kitchens.
Anyway, I have more photos coming that will make more sense of all this, I think.

ReplyDeleteAside from the Hofbrauhaus, where were these pictures taken? At the McGinnis Sisters'?

Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, I should say.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, did you notice that they had decorated the Maypole for Oktoberfest?
