White Heron

I followed this guy around a client's yard yesterday so that I could put his photo on the blog!

After

They cut her beard too short (what good is a beard to a lady if it's too short?!) but Jubilee knows that she's beautiful!

Check out those trim ears!

The Library

I just love my local library.  Have I said that before?  They did a makeover last summer, which John hasn't see yet, so I'm forever telling him how nice it is.  It's very quiet and peaceful, besides looking good.  I guess I'm a library kind of person.  I like the Florida theme that is woven through everything, the photos on the wall, the grasses in the glass, even the floor and upholstery.  Oh, and the books (and tapes and videos and newspapers and magazines) are nice too.

Before

Jubilee was looking so content laying the sun this morning that I hated to interrupt her bliss to take her to the Clip and Dip.  But it has to be done.  I've let her coat grow in woolly so that she would have some warmth to get her through the cold PA winter.  But now she's looking rather unkempt and overgrown.  So she's getting the works today.  Will post some after photos tomorrow (or whenever I next get to the library, at least by Saturday).  Here are more befores:

Car Trouble and My Library spot.

Once again, I've had car trouble.  Won't bore you with the details, but I've been without a car for a few days and bumming rides.  Had to cancel and re-schedule many of my appointments, which leaves me feeling like I can't catch up.

Anyway, I picked up my car this morning but I'm not totally sure that it is fixed.  Made my way to the library and a tsunami of email.  This is my corner at the local library.  I love the Florida grass in the glass that divides the room.

A quick update

My local Starbuck's is closed for "water testing", I haven't been able to get over to the library, and the neighbor who had an unsecured wireless network must've figured out that I was tapping into it.  So I'm at the local Panera's now, quickly paying the bills and hopefully catching up.  Believe it or not, it's not easy to adjust to the weather change, and missing John.  Even Jubilee is out of sorts.

Anyway, here are some photos from the backyard.

Here are some scenes from one of my days.  This is just over the north bridge to Palm Beach.  Pretty trees, pretty sky.

Making my way down the high hedged road to Judy’s house ...

And Judy’s beauganvalia (not sure how to spell it) which is thriving around her garage door.  I’ve watched it grow from just a few little branches.  It’s an unusual color for beauganvalia- not the usual pink, but an orange-pink.

On the way back to the mainland I caught the bridge and was amused as the girl in front of me got out of her car and took her dogs for a walk!  This is the sort of thing that happens in Palm Beach.

Continuing even further south ...

Went through a car wash first.  My side window was so dirty I couldn't even see out of it!  We got "The Works".  Foam, high powered water rinse, then some yellow stuff, another rinse, and then a blow dry.  Jubilee was cowered down and shaking the whole time.  But good results!

Nice!  You'd never know this car was almost 20 years old with more than 220,000 miles!  My road trip angel, Doug, was reliable as usual.  Not to mention John, who makes all the major decisions (and repairs) to this miracle car.

Continuing south, we crossed the line into La-La land.  Shorts and sandals, winter is a far away dream.

John tells me that it is 3 degrees in Cranberry TWP now.

The local library was closed today (MLK Day) so I'm getting my internet stuff done at Starbuck's.  Having an iced green tea.

Jubilee is certainly excited to see her backyard and old neighborhood.

Sunday morning Fernandina Beach FL

Just because it was so pretty ...

Fernandina Beach

Jon and Heather showed me around.  Fernandina Beach is a wonderful beach town, feeling both Southern and beach-y.  There is a "green area" that traverses the area for walkers/joggers/bikers as well as the beach.  The downtown area is artsy, lively with hints of history and old south charm, surrounded by water and grassy savannas.

How can my car be this dirty??!!
